In Virtual Conversation with...Faith Brynel

KNOW YOUR WORTH

How can I describe Faith with three words?

  1. Positive

  2. Encourager

  3. Giver

Having a Virtual Coffee with Faith was really amazing. She might be young in years, but she is definitely not standing back for the world around her. She lives to make a better place not only for herself and her family, but absolutely everyone she comes in contact with. Faith invests a lot of time and effort to make sure her message is heard through being a wiz with the technology of today. She lives life to the full and she has big aspirations for her future.

She has an amazing talent to communicate with others and challenges herself to be there for the people who reach out to her. She is a keen blogger, podcaster, and ambassador for Quizlet, Brightnetwork, and Studentbeans. While other young adults her age might worry about fashion, career, and future dreams…she is making her dream a reality. Faith understands the value of work ethics, dedication and passion for what she does.

Chatting to Faith made me see firsthand how important positive relationships within a family unit are. Her family worked out that the key to success is to build on oneself and alone, but to work together as a living, breathing, and praying ‘machine’. They share and encourage ideas, listen to each other, and will support each other. This support is not just to be successful and happy people, but also in their faith. It made me reflect on how much time I actively invest in my career; versus the time I actively invest in those important people around me. They have learned that together they are better and stronger. One of her favourite scriptures is, Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Her life sounds perfect, right? Well, that will be very naïve to think anyone in this world has a perfect life. Faith is strong, because she knows what it is to stand up for herself – her faith and also to be true to herself. During her teenage years she also, like many young people, had to face the reality of being pushed outside a circle, because she would not conform to the standards set by others. Faith understands unfortunately too well what it is like being the victim of bullying and feeling of isolation. Today she calls these ‘obstacles that empower your destiny’.

Her advice for her younger self would be, ‘Don’t worry about anything, God is in control. God’s got your back.’

Here is the advice she would give girls regarding facing challenges of today of bullying or feeling overwhelmed:

  1. Know your worth, appreciate who you are.

  2. Don’t be afraid to share your thoughts and feelings with someone you trust. You have to open up to someone and don’t be scared to look weak.

  3. Speak to someone who can support you – MIND, YoungMinds, Student Council, and she also said anyone can message her directly too.

  4. Learn to stand up for yourself, even if it means to simply just walk away from a situation. And don’t let negative words play on your mind.

  5. Find those friends with whom you can just be yourself.

Faith has great plans for her future; she hopes to one day be the most amazing barrister. She is not just studying to fulfill this dream, but she seeks out every opportunity to learn from her experiences and the experiences of others. She has committed to understanding the world around her and seeing things from many viewpoints and levels of understanding.
